Nona - Thanks for your reply -- getting what I want my pot to look like has taken unbelievable amounts of work. And I'm still frustrated constantly. I guess it is the challenge the keeps us in the studio.

I have emailed Barb - but not heard back from her. She's not on the computer very often. I'll try and phone her & if we set a date for lunch I'll let you know.

Thank you Judy. I am experimenting with a variety of surface treatments, but the work in these photos is only terra sig with clear. I think the glaze fit can depend on so many factors. . . your clay body, how tight the sig surface is . . . firing schedule. I have not found my perfect "clear either . . . this one fits well but am still working to find one with a more "matte" finish. I think the forms are easy . . . finding the right surface quality is where all the work is! We need something to perplex us, right? :). Let me know the next time you and barb are getting together . . . Id love to join you!

Love these 'fancy shots!' This work looks fabulous. I like the forms and the surface treatments. Are you using just (colored) terra sig with a clear over it? I make my terra sig with OM4 - seems to take the colorants well & my mixing process is pretty simple too. We should compare notes!

Your clear seems to work well -- I'm not as happy with the clears I have tested -- Ron Meyer's transparent, Gail Kendall & Val Cushing. Have you tried any of those? What are you using? How many coats/layers of the clear do you use?

Any way enough of all my technical questions - I'm loving your work!

Nona, this fall I made a few bowls using your "Square Bowl" technique and it hasn't been until now that I have gotten around to showing the results on my blog. Your post, with photos, was very informative and got me started playing on the slab roller that I had just bought on Craig's List. After I was finished with my bowls, I realized that my were very different because I had not made darts as deep as in your photo and though I was pleased with my first time results, I'm going to go for a more "darted" bowl next time around.

Thanks Tom! You are in for a real treat. Jennifer is incredible to watch! Her final product is so delicate, but her process really is not. She is masterful in the way she make the most of the special "strength" porcelain has to offer. I hope you have a great turnout . . . those coming will not be disappointed!
